Harrison Ford, For Real

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

It’s been awhile, again!  I almost can’t believe it…May is OVER.  It’s been so so so crazy- and although I really enjoyed starting school and running around like a crazy woman, I’m glad it’s over.  Now I’m down to one class a week, and payroll will be done in a couple of days, and if I can get a good night’s sleep tonight I’ll be living the high life.

But let’s go back…last week at work was a little rough.  There are a couple of people there that I’m still…learning to deal with.  I can usually hold my own and communicate my thoughts/decisions well, but there are a couple of people that get me so mad that I can’t even THINK much less clearly establish expectations.  On top of it, one of my favorite girls to chat with (perhaps the only one that truly understood some of my most random thoughts) was let go.  I’m still not really sure why- but honestly, it just made me sad.  I’ve been there, and it just brought back all of those awful feelings and some of that scared/uncertain feeling I haven’t felt in awhile.  I can’t believe I’m still getting over that.  But whatever.

The week seemed especially long because we were both in a rush to head into our vacation weekend. The beginning of the month we decided to go to Colorado when John’s sister and her family would be in town so we could all spend some time together.  I was dreading the drive a bit- but ended up sleeping most of the way down.  We were surprised to find a lot more family down there than we had expected, and it was nice to play around and then all go out to dinner together.  Saturday we visited a bit and then all the non-pregnant grownups (except for John…who kept me company) worked on a fence line south? maybe? of the property.  John and I took our nephews to the park to play for a bit- where we encountered a little boy who asked me to push him on the swings “like you push your kids!”  He was so cute and pathetic I couldn’t resist giving him a start on the swing, too.  I asked what his name was and he said, “Harrison Ford, for real.”  His older sister informed me that his name was Tyler, and that their Mom’s name was Misty, and that she had to work until 2 am.  Hmmmmmm.  TMI.  ANYWAY, we had fun running around with a couple of beautiful little boys and then found our way back to the ranch to see what the family was up to.  We all went out to dinner- and although it was rather late, it was nice to just sit and chat and eat some good food.  Sunday we went to church (people remembered me, wow!) and enjoyed a nice meal at the ranch- and then drove home.  I think the weekend went quite well…there was a baby lamb to feed (by bottle, so precious), and lots of time in the sunshine.  Although I was a bit exhausted today- it was worth it to see some people we love.

Now it’s just back to the grind.  Today was day one of payroll…which went suprisingly well.  Mostly it went well because although there were some major mistakes made (not by me) I got most things done that needed done and then my boss said, “Don’t worry about finishing tonight.  No stress…go home.”  Which was AMAZING.  I was so tired and it looked like it would at least be a 7pm night.  And although there is still plenty to do tomorrow…..there is time.  And I was able to come home and watch a movie with my husband and make candle s’mores (YUM) for family night…and again…hopefully get a good night’s sleep.

Pregnancy news: Much more movement again.  He was just chillin’ for awhile- not really letting me know what’s going on, but the last two days he’s been all over the place.  With all that movement comes some serious indigestion.  I can’t have a glass of milk without getting heartburn.  I’m thinking of asking the doctor if there’s something I can take (not TUMS) that will help prevent it.  We’ll see.
