Boogies

So last night Camper started AGAIN with the congestion.  Poor kiddo.  I looked up his nose, and low and behold, there were boogies!!  I said to John,

“There are boogies! In the back of his holes!!”

John replied:

“Some people call those nostrils.”

It’s true.  I’m already losing my vocabulary.  Well, I soon found out (much to Camper’s dismay) that the sucker thing does not get out regular boogies, just snot.  So after a brief (and discouraged) interlude with a Q-Tip I realized that the boogies are in there to stay.  Until either a) they dry up enough to fall out or b) Camper sneezes, hard.  It’s driving me insane.  I can hear it when he breathes. It makes him spit out his pacifier.  Suggestions welcome.

Erin, There is a spray that Sara’s Dr. suggested she use on Cutter, it is saline, little noses. It is in both squeeze bottle and spray, we have had the best luck with the spray, he does not like it, but it cleans out his nose. You can also try putting his bouncy in the bathroom when you guys shower, the steam may help, or getting a humidifier. The Dr. also said to go easy with that snot sucker thingie,[I know the real name is aspirator] as it can create a problem with his ears. Do not fret, I think it sounds lots worse than it really is. I Love you P

Hi, I’m a total stranger who reads your blog. Also a new mommy, and this is something I HAPPEN to know at least a little about. My baby has lots of boogies (he’s a few weeks older than yours). He snores, and sounds raspy much of the time. I kept freaking out about it and my pediatrician had to tell me repeatedly to calm down. It’s very common.

What you can do is buy saline drops (they have kids kind) and though he will hate it, shoot them up those “holes” and lean his head back a bit to let it get in there. Then after a bit, you’ll be able to suction stuff out.

Hope it works. Finally I get to GIVE advice!

I wish I could give advice! I laughed out loud though, when you talked about losing your vocabulary. The other day I couldn’t remember the word “scarf”. I was like…it’s like a sweater…for your neck…and…it’s long…
