So what I did I do on my birthday eve? (Still going on, just so you know.) WELL. I got up late. (After not sleeping because Bubby decided to not sleep). Then I hung around in my PJs with baby and husband. Then John ran out for some yummy toasted grinders and some movies for tonight, for a wee celebration. Whilst he was gone I actually got some cleaning done while Bubby watched some Bugs in Space movie with Grandpa. Then Bubby ate one whole cube of carrots and one whole tablespoon of cereal. Seriously.
After the lunch we read some books (my favorite is The Number One Aussie Counting Book, from Auntie Emily during her trip to Australia). Lots of fun adjectives and animals I have to look up. Then Bubby took a short nap. HALF swaddled. Something new we’re trying to see if he’ll fall asleep more independently without help. John and I had time to eat our lunch/dinner before he woke up again (we’re working on longer naps) after which Bubby had some barnyard time while I begged John just for the operations manual for my birthday present. I could get a jump on learning how to use the surprise I already know about but am going to pretend to be surprised for! He found my present in its hiding place and said I could open the whole thing! Well, the “surprise” was taken from its box and hidden somewhere else while the manual and an older version of the surprise were in the NEW box. How did he KNOW I’d ask for the manual as a TRICK to get my present early? And to think, I thought I’d won!
Anyway! Then there was some galloping fun jumperoo for Bubby followed by a bottle and some “learn to fall asleep on your own” time. Which means I swaddle him, put him in his crib and sit nearby reading a book saying things like “It’s ok. I’m here. Time for sleep,” whenever he fussed until he fell asleep. We’ll see how long THIS nap lasts.
So now we just have the evening to look forward to. More Bubby. Maybe a movie or two (John rented Nick and Norah, Burn After Eating, The Secret Life of Bees, and a western that I can’t remember the name of). Apparently we got a free rental because it’s my birthday tomorrow.
All in all, although it was a slow start of a day, I think it’s been a good one so far.
Oh yes, and I have a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday for the IBS. My doctor is on vacation, so I’ll have to see someone else. Perhaps he/she will be a bit more amenable to finding a medication to help me cope a little better. We shall see.
