About Little Kite Girl
Once upon a time a little girl was born into a little family in Groton, CT. She grew up with a bit of wanderlust, developed and catered to by her father’s Navy career.
She was given the opportunity to live in various places throughout the United States, and then, when she turned 18 she struck off on her own to attend The University of Scranton in Scranton, PA. She loved this university, a place where she learned to think and be open minded and a few other things probably best left in memories. After falling in love with the school and some amazing friends (picture not from the college days…but at least you can see their faces)
she knew it was time to move on. But what next? She decided to serve a mission for her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and was sent to London, England.
She loved that, too, and met even more people and did more things that helped her world become richer and even better to live in.
Upon her return to the United States she decided, against her better judgment, to try “western” life for awhile in Utah. She finished her degree in philosophy at Brigham Young University. Her plan was to get in, get a degree, get out. However, before she could escape back to the east coast where they have Dunkin Donuts and actual moisture in the air, she fell in love with a boy
who was really more of a man, married him in the most beautiful place imaginable for time and all eternity
and promptly got pregnant.
One day shortly after they were married (or maybe even just before…she can’t quite remember) they were chatting online when he called her the only pet name she’s ever loved, Little Kite Girl. And thus, with his encouragement and knowledge of the internet this Little Kite Girl became more internet saavy and started a blog about life and love and pregnancy to be able to share all her happenings with the world.
Little Kite Girl is ME, Erin Hattaway. I’m still living and working in Utah, just doing a lot of waiting. Waiting for my baby to come, waiting for my husband to finish up school in December (yay John!) and waiting to move out east coast and the place my heart belongs: New England. I have a few amazing friends scattered across this country and others, a remarkable family (which includes many more people than are in this one picture)
and anticipate being able to give in to wanderlust again in the future. But as for now we’re just doing what we can to grow our little family and love life. And it’s a good one- so that’s not proving too difficult.
