Fairies

Me, at Walmart, perusing Fairies. A phone conversation.

Me: John! I don’t know how to pick out girl presents! (Subtext: They got Cy a REALLY FUN SUPER AWESOME gift for his birthday, I want to do the same for their little girl!)

John: What are you looking at?

Me: There are tons of Fairies! The 12 inch ones, the 6.4 inch ones, the 4 inch ones, and then itty bitty ones! Which one do I pick?

John: Does one of the sizes come with an animal friend?

Me: Looking intently through the different sized fairies. YES! The smaller but not smallest ones do!

John: There ya go.

(This might be funnier if you know John.  But WOW.  He’s got skills yo.)

So Sad- A Giveaway Ends Without a Winner

I must suck at blogging or something, because this giveaway did not get the necessary attention to warrant giving it away.  As my giveaways are 90% self-funded, I can’t give stuff away without a certain number of people tossing their name in the hat.  This makes me sad because the book ROCKS, so even if you just grab it from your local library I totally recommend you reading it!  We’ll try another giveaway soon, folks.  No worries!

A Giveaway- Out of LOVE for this book.

I finally finished a book I bought awhile ago called The Blessing of a Skinned Knee by Wendy Mogel.  I loved every sentence in the book.  I couldn’t get through 5 pages without going to get a pen so I could circle and write exclamation points in the margins.  Her child philsophy comes straight from Jewish teachings and practices, and although I’m not Jewish myself, I found myself wishing that I belonged to the culture she was describing.  She talks about real things, and her book seems to offer a way to integrate religion into real life, unapologetically, while still living in the here and now.  I can’t find words strong enough to encourage you to read it, so I’m going to give one away.

I feel like I am downright blessed to be able to stay home with my son.  However and in any case, work at home, work out of the home, stay at home, all parents are obligated to raise their children to be healthy, happy members of their community.  I felt it keenly in this book, both the duty and the “how.”

Mouse Paint Giveaway

Summertime is soon upon us, and one of my FAVORITE things about summer as a kid were the BOOKS.  Because school was out, my mom would usually sign us up for the local library’s summer reading program which offered incentives to read books off a list and come back to the library for activity days.  I loved it, and decided to do a book giveaway this time around.  This is one that my Mom posted about on Baby Book Club. I love building my library list for Camper, so if you have any suggestions head on over there and leave your ideas.

Giveaway #3 Monkey time!

We got this as a gift from a friend and our son can’t get enough of it.  All the different textures and patterns keep him busy during car rides and while shopping.  Plus, it’s pretty cute.
