January 2008 Ode to my ridiculousness.

February 2008 Imagine a time when I was mad that my stomach was flat.

March 2008 If only it hadn’t hit my butt eventually.

April 2008 John! This was it!  The thing you said you’d only do for me 3 times in life, so I had to use them sparingly!  Sigh.  That was driving me crazy.  The STINKEYE.  (For anyone who is curious, I used up all three in the month of April.  And I’ll never see it again. And he still makes me choose the movies.)

May 2008 Ah the snoogle.

June 2008 Back where I started from.

July 2008 Typical of life back then.

August 2008 Oh the belly.

September 2008 The birth of my Camper.

October 2008 Mommy Life

November 2008 Mommy Life…Again

December 2008 The newest reason I love Christmas.

New Years resolution for last year:

“I have made some resolutions this year. First, I want to learn to drive stick. I know. I’m lame. I’m the only person in my family that can’t. I think that even includes all of my family-in-law, too! Technically- I guess I can…but I just get all scared and freaked out and can’t do it anymore. So, I want to get over that. I also want to learn more about web design, and really make this page what I want it to be. Third, I want to take more time to read for PLEASURE (ta da! No more required philosophy readings!) and review books online. Fourth, I want to learn to cook more things. I think I’ve already come a long way in that department- but I’ve got a lot to learn. Fifth, next year this time I’d like to feel good about my weight and health. Notice that I didn’t specify how much I would weigh or what kinds of things I’ll eat. I just want to NOT think, “Ah, this has got to change.” Finally- I want to keep in touch with my friends better. They’re scattered everywhere, and I miss them! I have to find a way to talk to them more often.”

So, how did I do?  Well.  I can cook more things.  Hurrah for me.  I did read a lot more too, which is fabulous.  And I have gotten better about calling my girls and even catching up with family.  So that’s good!  As for the driving stick thing…yeah, we lost the car that I would have learned on in a tragic accident.  (I can’t find a link to a post about it, I think it happened last Feburary??)…and as for the healthy…well, I got pregnant AND sick, and don’t feel all that great about my exercise routines.  So another bust.  As for this site- I am closer, but still so far away.  So you know what?  I am pulling a New Years ditto (with a few exceptions and additions).  Give it another go.  So, for the record, my “goals” this year are:

Be healthy and feel healthy.

Cook good food! Learn new things!

Keep in touch with friends, more visits.

Work on this site more.

Be a good Mommy and Wife.

Start a grad school program that I LIKE.

I think that maybe be all for now…but I can change it ’til the end of the day!

Happy New Year all.

New Name, Same Great Taste

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Hello!  I’ve (well…John the handy internet husband…has…) finally done it!  I’ve been wanting to switch the location/name of my blog for some time now, and so here it is!

World, meet

LittleKiteGirl.com

LKG meet the world.

Natural Sceptre has treated me very well, and for awhile you’ll be able to get here from there, but this my main locale now.  I’m going to be making some other changes (slowly but surely) so you if feel so inclined to update my name and url on your blogroll or link lists, I’d truly appreciate it.

Thanks everyone!

Reasons to feel Pathetic about my Site

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

1) Even though I keep SWEARING I’m going to figure out how to design it myself, I keep just finding a template somewhere else that suits me and using it.

2) My coolest blogroll people totally design their own BANNER, or at least it looks like they do it themselves.  I mean, check out SAJ. How can you beat a penguin with a Popsicle??  If that’s gone when you get over there to see her, it’ll be something equally as cool.  Promise.

3) For some reason my blogher ads don’t look pretty like everyone else’s.  I think I installed the code wrong.

4) I don’t post beautiful pictures taken with a super amazing camera like my friends do.

5) Daddy Dan the super interviewer doesn’t even know I exist.  He’s totally the popular kid in the cafeteria right now.

6) I’m often to lazy to link, choose tags, or even change categories.

I guess I’m just feeling pathetic right now.  Maybe when I’m a SAHM I’ll have more time to learn to design things and make them as fabulous as they are in my brain.  (And the SAHM’s laugh because they know what I’m actually in for.) For the moment though, when I get around to actually even posting I end up feeling good enough about myself, having a cookie, and going to bed.  Sigh.  One day I’ll be as cool as you people ;)

When Blogging Has Gone Too Far

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

So, I dreamt about my bounce rate last night.  For those of you who might not know, bounce rate is:

The percentage of web site visitors who arrive at a web site entry page, then leave without going any deeper into the site.

You can probably guess that bouncing is not really a good thing, per say.  During one of my dreams I had the thought: I totally have my site set as my homepage.  That means, I bounce from it every time I open a browser.  Every time.  And I get online a lot.  I woke up with the distinct impression that I needed to make a change.

I’m not sure if that will do anything.  I’m not even sure I know enough about bounce rates to know what’s good/bad/indifferent.  But I know I wasn’t helping.  Maybe it was the blogging gods sending me revelation.

Who knows.

There’s Nothing Like Your Smile Made of Sun

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

I just wanted to call attention to an aspect of my website that might be overlooked: the blogroll.  Over there (<—–) you’ll find links to some things I read, and some people I love.  You should check them out!  There’s John, of course at sw-c.com, and then Emily at emhattaway.blogspot.com.  My Mom and Dad-in-law chronicle their adventures on a mission and on their ranch at ranchosierravista.net, and then I’ve got a few other tidbits.  For instance, there is John’s writing site: inordertowrite.com (you have to click on the topics to the right to read his blog…he’s still working on the main page).  I think you get the picture.  You’ll also find a link to my photo gallery and our wedding website (which we don’t update anymore, but is there, nonetheless).

So, why am I posting all this?  GIVE THEM SOME LOVE.  It’s fun to build a network, and to get comments, and to know that someone out there is reading what you write.  So, if you read me, if you read them- and you feel like saying hello, don’t be shy!  I put it all out there for a reason.  For you to READ it.  You can even make fun of me if you want.   Oh, and GET A BLOG.  Mom.

new templates and red bottlecaps

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Hello to a new funky look for the website!  I was feeling something new, and when I found this template I KNEW it was perfect.  At least, until the day I figure out how to design my own templates…that will be exciting!  Nothing too exciting happening here, just running around visiting people and getting wedding stuff finished up.  John and I got our marriage license this morning :)  Yup, filled out the paperwork, swore before God and our country that we aren’t cousins, and got a cool keychain that says, “The First Bond of Society is Marriage.”   I was a little freaked (in that happy, panicky, wondeful way I sometimes get when thinking about the wedding) and had an interesting morning.  By afternoon, however, I was anxious to get home and go over my “wedding checklist” and track people down for the RSVP lists.  Let me clarify, I’m not nervous about BEING married, just about GETTING married.  Phew…nervous…but my Mom scheduled a spa mani/pedi for the two of us next week, so that’ll calm me down a little and make my hands and feet feel FAB for the big day.

In other news, John saved ALL his red bottlecaps for me, and now I have my own little plastic baggie of them for whenever I feel like I need a little sugary pick-me-up.  He’s a good one.

Time issue…

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Just noticed that the timestamp on my blogs are 5 or 6 hours later than I’ve written them. So take that into account I do very little at 5am besides sleep. I attempted to adjust the setting…so good luck me.

As the Weekend Dies Down

Monday, May 21st, 2007

The weekend is almost over. Today we went to church (I went with John today, as much as I love my ward, sometimes I gotta go with him. It doesn’t hurt that his ward starts at 11!) We made pancakes for dinner…somehow these ones smelled like cupcakes. They win the award for gluten-free goodness though. After lounging around for a bit, talking to the moms, and watching some TV, we decided to go for a walk. There’s a horse trail up the road from the house, and it provided a nice climb and a nice view from the top. Provo is a pretty place to be, for the time being. On a different note- I uploaded some Google ads onto my website. It’s content based, so basically, Google reads my blog and advertses along themes it finds. Today my advertisments were all about having anxiety and being tired. I guess I do get tired often enough, but I consider myself a pretty happy person. What do your Google ads say about you? What are you writing that you didn’t know you were writing? It’s the future of psychology. Or fortune telling. Or something.

Back to work tomorrow. Another week. Jonathan will be here a week from today! Gotta get him a bed…
